Fundamentals of nursing is an intgroductory didactic and clinicaol course designed to establish the foundations for basic skills, knowledge, attitudes, and psychomotero skills combined with low and high-fidelity simulation models. The course introduces and utilizes the programs conceptual framework for nursing practice: nursing, nursing process, evidence-based pactice, client (client centered), health, wellness-illness, environment (safety), professionalism (roles), critical thinking, communicationb, informatics, legal/ethical concepts, and teaching and learning. Students are introduced to the role of nursing as a profession and the nurse practice act. This course is also designed to enhance the student’s professional knowledge, role, and function of the Associatre degree nurse. Cultural, spiritual, psychological concepts, and diversity are integrated throughout this all courses as they related to each client. Offered in the Fall Only A grade of “C” or better is required for passing.
